That's part of the aesthetic that draws me to the heresy. Mixed armour marks and Lots of oil washes and chipped armour which gives the impression of a force which has been through the ringer. No place for parade ground in the heresy.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08170576826012433527noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4053737179950177317.post-5920275604436192502016-08-08T10:56:20.157+01:002016-08-08T10:56:20.157+01:00Absolutely, I'm loving mixing and matching arm...Absolutely, I'm loving mixing and matching armour types and adding a shed load of battle damage to show the attrition of war without instant resupply...Dr Davehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02665459310178111026noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4053737179950177317.post-48187912381745011492016-08-08T10:55:07.992+01:002016-08-08T10:55:07.992+01:00Plus in a legion of 50 or 80,000 armour colours, i...Plus in a legion of 50 or 80,000 armour colours, icons, trophies and honour markings are likely to vary widely. If you haven't had your standard legion colour chart updated for 15 years because you've been battling on the wrong side of the galaxy, there's bound to be variation :-)Dr Davehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02665459310178111026noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4053737179950177317.post-41749347211845068272016-08-08T10:00:59.373+01:002016-08-08T10:00:59.373+01:00I actually try real hard to follow old marks and f...I actually try real hard to follow old marks and find ways to accept ugly gear. I have a Rhino of the newer mark for my Fists and it makes med cringe even though it was actually used during the Heresy.

For me the Heresy is all about gritty, filthy and damaged armour and tanks. I have never used as much battle damage while painting as I don't now, because to me it just should be like that.Grasp My Worldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08915604579533928178noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4053737179950177317.post-20788920929523497992016-08-08T09:55:35.862+01:002016-08-08T09:55:35.862+01:00To me, I'd also point out colour variation. Emperor's Children have far more red-pink in their purple than they do blue, whereas FW have them in a deep, dark purple.
I paint mine magenta, because that's the tone I remember.
