This book is heading out to us in August and although details are elusive at the moment the artwork was confirmed this week which gives us a few clues about what the book may hold.
Presently the novel is unlisted on The Black Library but strangely comes up when you search for it in other book stores; not sure why that is but at least it enables us to grab a blurb which is legit according to Mr French himself. Here you go...
The Horus Heresy reaches the Solar System - will the defences of Rogal Dorn and his Imperial Fists hold against the onslaught?
Recalled from the Great Crusade after Ullanor, Rogal Dorn and the VIIth Legion were appointed as the Emperor’s praetorians – but only after the Warmaster’s treachery was revealed did the full extent of that sacred duty become apparent. Now, the Solar System comes under attack for the first time since the war began, and many of the seemingly impregnable defences wrought by the Imperial Fists prove inadequate. With all eyes fixed firmly upon this new threat beyond the gates of Terra, who will protect Dorn from the enemy within?
This gives us a bit of an insight into what is in store for the next step in the Heresy. Things are, for the first time (kind-of), making their way to Terra and the Sol system and it doesn't look like Dorn's hard-work in fortifying the place is paying off if we believe this blurb.
The artwork backs this up as taking place in the Sol system and we can even see Terra (I think) in the background of the fight scene. Of key importance to me as a VIIth Legion fan is that we see Dorn fighting Alparius, wait maybe is Omega...oh screw it you know the twinny-Alpha Legion primarch dude! I can also make out a lot of blood on that chainsword that Dorn is swinging so I am taking that as meaning he has scored a fatal hit on the blue-armoured sneaky one (who am I kidding?!).We can also see an equal number of dead legionaries and what looks to be a finely balanced fight.
So its not giving much away but we have:
- Sol system fight between Alpha Legion and Imperial fists
- Two primarchs fighting
- I think we can assume that the Alpha Legion are there sneaking around, maybe they are trying to get in and undermine the defences or even take-out the Big E himself before the big shoot out starts
Thats enough to get me fired up for novel number 39, get your wallets ready for August!
Hi folks, I am just re-visiting this preview after listening to the awesome Gav Thorpe talking on the very excellent Eye of Horus podcast (well worth a listen). Gav got to talking about Praetorian of Dorn which he describes as Alpharius versus Dorn and the book sees the Alpha Legion testing Dorn's defences ahead of Horus' advance. So cool!
