8th Edition - First Game and thoughts on the new rules and stats - Dark Angels v Blood Angels

4 days after release and I could hold my excitement no longer and managed to get together with a friend for my first game!! I acquired a 40k 8th edition rulebook on my 40th birthday which happily coincided with the release day of 8th edition - Bonus!

Index & List Building
The day of the game I nipped out to my FLGS and picked up Index: Imperium 1 book (I wanted 2 to play my Astra Militarum army the Emperors Feth but unfortunately they had sold out so Blood Angels it was!) to get an hour or so to pick an army list for a game of 1500 points - I don't quite get the power levels yet!

My first impression of that book was definitely one of complication as it certainly had a load of stats - 220 odd pages of them - blimey. However a lot of them are for different armies or are repeated and after using it alongside the game you quickly find the reference pages at the back.

"Yes the famed monstrosity from the Emperors Children clicks his way in looking very young for his age."

"Obviously had a few skin grafts in his time but I have to say this one's a real beauty. I may have to have a chat about that off air..."

"Anyway back to the draw and one of the spidery mechadendrites clicks its way into the bowl and out comes one of the famous Deathmatch balls.....it's Magnus the Red!!!" 

"The Maroon wizard is out again after his demolishing of Ferrus Manus in the first round. Now who will he draw? In goes another metal tentacle...."

"The second ball comes out and it's....Lion El'Jonson!!"

"The third appearance for the big liar - sorry Lion - He defeated Corvus Corax and Konrad Curze in the first 2 rounds and without a 'C' in his name will he be able to defeat Magnus?"

"It's the oldest trick in the book, Konrad never had a chance! You can hear the boo's on Mars!"

"Well the Lion certainly knows how to win that's for sure."

"Yes but wearing garlic and necklaces with crosses? Fixing the match to start at midday and then making sure that the roof on the Deathmatch arena opened halfway through the fight?"

"You're right, Konrad couldn't cope with the sunlight and it was all over when the stake went in..."

"Either way the Lion makes it 2 from 2 and Curze can go back to his coffin."

"Stay with us though fight fans as we still have the draw for week 7 coming right up..."

"Hi Deathmatch fans, we're back 'CLUMP' and what a 'CLUMP' match it was with 'CLUMP' the twins 'CLUMP' what is that noise? 'CLUMP'"

"Oh of course, and welcoming our special guest to draw the Primarch balls out of the ball is......NORK DEDDOG!!"

"GRUNT"
"Hi Nork, its a pleasure to have you here. Now if you'll do the honours sir...."
"His giant banana hands are heading towards the bowl now and you can cut the tension with a knife...."
"That's it one hand in and my those fingers are huge! Yes they've closed around 2 of the balls but wait he can't get his hands back out of the bowl!"
"ROAR!"
"Now then Nork, calm down, no put the bowl back on the table (ducks). Stop spinning around! Mind the camera! Nork you're going to break the bowl hammering the wall like that....(SMASH)..."

Twitter Primarch Deathmatch Week 2 Result - Corax v Lion

The Lion triumphs and brushes his long golden mane back away from his face with a blood stained gauntlet.

Our qualifying round guest the Fateweaver watches on with a knowing smile before clucking off into the ether knowing that he/she is the top bird in the universe.

So the Lion representing the 1st Legion is past the qualifying round and into the first round proper.
Who will he face? Only time (or the Eldar) will tell but as for Corax you will just have to read his obituary on the blog in the next few days....

Twitter Primarch Deathmatch - Week 1 Qualifying round result & Week 2 Deathmatch 2

Well fight fans there you have it. Regal Adorn (Damn you autocorrect!) takes down the whimpering Perturabo in the qualifying round. He obviously outbored his nemesis as they sat behind their big walls and then crept up to bang him on the head with his hammer while he was asleep.

Whatever happened 56% percent of the vote went to Rogal 'I'll give you a fisting, see if I don't' Dorn and he goes through to the first round proper.

Up next is the last of the qualifying rounds - a battle of the animals as the Raven takes on the Lion.

Yes its Corvus Corax the leader of the sneaky Raven Guard up against Lion El'Johnson, the robed Legolas look-a-like.
